I Like This Growing Up

I like this growing up. You know that the drama that goes around is not yours. That you don't need drama. You need a straight conversation. You learn the art of cutting off from the drama that once consumed you. That there is a huge difference between drama and nakhra. Nakhra is beautiful. Drama is toxic. And some people thrive on drama. You understand finally, that you can't change the world. You can just do your bit. And that bit can be your world. You learn that people make their choices. That they did not pick up your call, or never came to see you is a choice. You just need to accept that. You can cry, but you will be fine. Speaking the truth to oneself hurts, but the only thing that heals.

You finally learn what your parents said was right. You need to take care of your health. I like going to bed early these days. No more talking till dawn. I like this simplicity of waking up, shower, food, work and then repeat. You finally understand that simplicity can be immensely powerful. It will bring your core to you.

You finally get that you are the only one who will stay with you. So you take care of yourself. You build on your dreams. You build your beautiful life. That constantly adjusting is so energy-consuming. That you need to ask for what you want. That even if you leave, no one will die. It's okay to leave something that makes you unhappy. Finally, you learn that you are not as important as you thought you were. Nature has been replacing generations for centuries. You too shall be replaced.

Over the years, I have liked the idea of death. That has been my solace. And it deepens my love for life. That tells me not to settle for anything I don't want. This is why I wake up and work and smile and be good. Because I want to be who I am becoming. And there is no other way to be.

I like this growing up.
